Every project begins with a name. Mine was born from a childhood memory: a wooden puppet who dreamed, more than anything in the world, of becoming a real little boy.
I saw myself in Geppetto. Not in the puppet, but in the craftsman bent over his workbench, carving day and night, with patience and love, a creature he hopes will one day walk on its own and set off to discover the world.
That is how Pinnokio was born.
The lie… and the truth
I am often told, sometimes with a worried smile: “Pinocchio? The one who lies?”
Yes. And that is exactly where everything begins.
One phrase sums up my thinking: All lies in truth. It has two meanings. Every lie is found within the truth. And also: everything rests on the truth.
All lies in truth.
Artificial intelligences are a bit like that. They do not really know what truth is. Mostly, they have learned to recognise what it is not. They move towards it by ruling out, one by one, everything that rings false. Like Pinocchio, they learn from their mistakes.
My job is to guide them along that path so that they get as close to the truth as possible.
The workshop: fifteen years in the field
Pinnokio does not come from a laboratory. It comes from the field.
For more than fifteen years, I held finance leadership positions, then ran my own fiduciary firm. I have known the closings that never end, the missing documents, the processes that rest on a single person, and the hours spent on tasks that do not require intelligence, only patience.
Each of these difficulties became a chisel stroke in the wood.
Pinnokio was designed with business logic. It is not about adding technology for its own sake. It is about answering the concrete problems I have lived through myself, and those that finance directors, fiduciary firms and their teams face every day.
And now?
Geppetto eventually saw his creation come to life. Pinnokio grows every day, in contact with those who use it.
I invite you to walk a little way with him.
